16-core Intel Core i7-13700K engineering sample overtakes 16-core Ryzen 9 5950X in Geekbench tests

Another model of the upcoming Intel Raptor Lake processor series with the “K” suffix in the name, the 16-core Core i7-13700K, was noted in the Geekbench test database. This chip has an unlocked multiplier that allows manual overclocking.

The Core i7-13700K engineering sample was tested on an ASRock Z690 Steel Legend motherboard running DDR4 memory. According to the test, the processor has 16 cores with support for 24 virtual threads. It includes eight high-performance Raptor Cove cores and eight energy-efficient Gracemont cores.

The average processor clock speed in Geekbench tests was 5.36 GHz. According to detailed information, the chip operated in the frequency range from 5289 to 5381 MHz.

In a single-core test, the chip scored 2090 points, in a multi-core test – 16,542 points. This is 10% and 17% higher than its predecessor, the Core i7-12700K Alder Lake series. The multi-core performance of the engineering sample of the Core i7-13700K turned out to be slightly higher than that of the flagship 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 5950X. In terms of single-core performance, the new Intel processor outperformed the AMD processor by 24%.

According to the latest rumors, the Raptor Lake series processors will be introduced in September this year, and will go on sale in October. First, Intel will release older models with the “K” suffix, the rest will be released a little later.
